One of our family’s go-to side dishes, these potatoes are extremely flavorful and a crowd pleaser!

These crispy potatoes are so flavorful!
You can make them with any kind of potatoes and only a handful of ingredients!
If you’re using a potato with thick skin (like a russet), it’s best to peel your potatoes.
If you’re using potatoes with a thin skin (such as yukon gold), you can even leave the skins on! They’re even faster and easier to make this way!

Crispy Potatoes

Ingredients
- 4 medium potatoes, cubed
- 1/4 cups olive oil
- 2 TBSP onion powder
- 1 TBSP garlic powder
- 2 tsp basil
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees farenheit.
- Wash your potatoes.
- If using potatoes with a thick and rough skin (such as russet), peel the skin off your potatoes. If using potatoes with a thin and smooth skin (such as Yukon Gold), you can choose to leave your skins on.
- Cut your potatoes in 1" cubes.
- Put your potatoes on a baking sheet.
- Coat your potatoes in olive oil.
- Add all of your seasonings onto your potatoes evenly. I like to use clean hands to evenly rub the seasoning onto all the potatoes.
- Bake your seasoned potatoes in your 400 degree oven for 25-30 minutes, until crispy on the edges. To check for crispiness, you can carefully shuffle them around with a spatula before serving.
What kind of potatoes should I use?
You can use any kind of potato you want for this recipe!
I have even used multiple kinds of potatoes at the same time when making this dish if I’m trying to use up what’s in my pantry.
Do I need to peel my potatoes?
If you’re using a potato with a thick skin such as a russet potato, I suggest peeling your clean potatoes before cutting them up.
Potatoes with thick skins just aren’t very pleasant to bite into.
If you’re making this recipe with a potato that has thin skin (such as a Yukon Gold), then you have the option of leaving the skins on your potatoes!
If you don’t like potato skin, you can still peel your potatoes, even if they have a thin skin!
Peeling your potatoes will just make your crispy potatoes even better!
What can I substitute for olive oil?
Lard can be substituted for olive oil in this dish.
I often prefer using lard instead of olive oil when making these potatoes!
If you’re using lard, you might want to warm up your lard just a little bit before pouring it over your potatoes.
Otherwise, it’s a little more of a challenge spreading the lard evenly over the potatoes, since lard is a solid at room temperature.
Can I use granulated onion instead of onion powder?
No, you cannot use granulated onion instead of onion powder.
The onion powder gives these potatoes a completely different flavor than granulated onion does.
Onion powder has more of a sweetness to it, while granulated onion has more of a strong onion flavor.
If you only have granulated onion and want to make these potatoes anyway, I suggest only using 1 TBSP of granulated onion.
