Here’s a recipe for meatloaf that uses 1 lb of ground beef!
This meatloaf is easy to make and full of flavor!
It’s also mild enough to be very child friendly!
This meatloaf is made with 1 pound of ground beef, bread crumbs (OR 1-2 slices of bread, crumbled), Italian seasoning, milk, mustard and ketchup, salt and pepper, and an egg.

Classic Meatloaf

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (OR 1-2 slices of bread, finely crumbled)
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cups ketchup
- 1 TBSP yellow mustard
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 black pepper
- 1 tsp of olive oil to grease your pan with
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees fahrenheit.
- In a bowl, combine all of your ingredients until mixed thoroughly. I like to use my stand mixer to mix my raw meatloaf.
- Coat the inside of an oven safe loaf pan with 1 tsp of olive oil.
- Place the meatloaf inside your loaf pan, pressing it down to make it an even height.
- Bake your meatloaf in a 400 degree oven for about 50 minutes, until the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees fahrenheit.
What order should I mix my ingredients in?
Your ingredients do not need to be mixed in any particular order.
Just throw everything into a mixing bowl, and mix until your meatloaf looks very smooth!
I love using my stand mixer to make meatloaf because it makes the meatloaf very soft once it’s all finished!
What can I substitute for breadcrumbs?
As you have probably noticed in the recipe, you can substitute a slice or two of bread if you don’t have any breadcrumbs!
Just crumble up your bread slices BEFORE adding them to your meatloaf mixture.
You can use your food processor to crumble up your bread slices, or just crumble up your slices of bread by hand.
I love to take a stale loaf of homemade bread, run it through my food processor, and store the crumbs in a ziplock bag in the freezer for when I make meatloaf!
How long should I cook my meatloaf for?
You should cook your meatloaf at 400 degrees farenheit for about 50 minutes, or until the meatloaf reaches 160 degrees farenheit.
When using a meat thermometer to check the temperature of your meatloaf, check the temperature in a couple of different places to be certain that it is fully cooked.
How long can I keep my leftover meatloaf in the refrigerator?
You can keep your meatloaf in a sealed container for up to one week in the refrigerator.
Can I freeze my meatloaf?
Yes! Meatloaf is one of my favorite freezer meals to make!
I love to freeze my raw meatloaf in an oven safe pan for up to 6 months.
When I’m ready to cook my meatloaf, I take it out of the freezer and place it in my refrigerator first thing in the morning (or the night before!).
The meatloaf will slowly defrost in the refrigerator all day long.
Then, when it’s time for dinner, I cook my meatloaf in the oven at 350 degrees farenheit until it reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees.
Freezing meatloaf while it’s still raw makes it taste very fresh when it’s time to cook it!
