How can I get EVEN MORE FLAKEY LAYERS in my pie crust?
Here’s a trick to get an EXTRA flakey pie crust: fold it up like puff pastry!
Roll out your pie crust as normal.
VERY lightly dust it with flower, and fold the top, the bottom, and each side.
Roll it out again.
You can do this one or two more times if you like, but even just doing this once will get you more flakey layers in your pie crust!
It’s my favorite pie crust trick!
Can I use Freshly Ground Flour for this recipe?
This recipe is for all purpose flour only.
I do not suggest using freshly ground flour for this pie crust.
Should I chill the dough first?
Nope!
No need to chill the dough before rolling it out for this recipe.
While I DO suggest that your butter and water are COLD, you don’t need to refrigerate the crust before rolling it out on your work service.
Is this crust for SWEET or SAVORY pies?
This crust is for both!
It’s a great all-purpose crust!
Use it for dessert pies, or use it for pot pies!
